The South Carolina Primary Health Care Association (SCPHCA) Board of Directors announces the election of Regina M. Mitchell, President and CEO of New Horizon Family Health Services in Greenville County, as its next board chair. Ms. Mitchell was elected during the Association's Annual Membership Meeting and will begin her one-year term in November.
"I really appreciate this vote of confidence from my colleagues. It's been a very eventful year filled with challenges, but we have grown stronger as an Association. I look forward to working with the Board as we position ourselves to conquer the challenges ahead of us," Ms. Mitchell said after her election.
Ms. Mitchell earned her Master of Health Service Administration from the University of South Carolina. She also achieved the designation of Fellow, Board Certified Executive in Health Care Management through the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Ms. Mitchell was previously treasurer of the SCPHCA Board of Directors. She's served as CEO of New Horizon Family Health Services since May 1998. New Horizon Family Health Services is a community health center with locations in Greenville, Greer, and Travelers Rest.
Prior to her appointment at New Horizon Family Health Services, Ms. Mitchell served in a variety of leadership roles at Family Health Centers including vice president of operations.
Also during the Annual Membership Meeting, the Board selected Ann Lewis, CEO of CareSouth Carolina, Inc., as the next vice chair.. Ashley Barnes, PhD, CEO of Low Country Health Systems, Inc., and George Newby, DrPH, CEO of Foothills Community Health Care, Inc., were elected treasurer and secretary, respectively. Richard Boyles, MD, medical director of Low Country Health Care System, Inc., will remain on the board as its clinical representative for another two-year term.
