posted on Monday, June 17, 2019

For a quarter century, South Carolina's health center providers and clinical staff have assembled for the Clinical Network Retreat. More than 200 people came to Myrtle Beach to network, learn best practices and receive critical updates on providing quality health care June 7-9.  The Retreat began with pre-conference sessions for chief medical officers, pharmacists and school-based health providers. Over the course of the next few days, Sherry Hirota and Dr. Kimberly Chang from the California-based Asian Health Services delivered a keynote addressing the Retreat's theme "Becoming a Provider of Choice through Enhancing Patient Engagement".  From there, attendees chose from a  diverse menu of concurrent sessions in areas like pediatric care, evidence-based interventions and data utilization, service integration, special populations, clinical leadership and pharmacology. There were also opportunities to receive information on health information technology (HIT) and HPV vaccinations.  Dr. Kamala Sanasi-Bholda and Suzanne Snyder from Palmetto Health USC Medical Group delivered the closing plenary session, where the duo presented on delivering culturally competent care to the LGBTQ community.
