Sue Veer, MBA, CMPE, joined Carolina Health Centers, Inc. in 2006 and was appointed as president and Chief Executive Officer in 2007. Ms. Veer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Communication from Carlow College in Pittsburgh,PA. Ms. Veer pursued graduate studies in adult education at Pennsylvania State University and obtained her MBA from Winthrop University. She received certification as a Medical Practice Executive from the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Prior to joining Carolina Health Centers, Ms. Veer served as associate executive director of the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association where she gained extensive knowledge in health policy and health center management. Her earlier professional experience includes employment as the practice administrator for Grand Strand OB/GYN, PA, director of the Center for Excellence at Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc., and director of Quality and Resource Management at Columbia Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. While living in Pennsylvania, Ms Veer worked for the University of Pittburgh Medical Center, where she was director of patient relations for Presbyterian University Hospital and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Since joining CHC has become active in the community as a Rotarian and serving on the Board of Directors for the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Steering Committee for Leadership Greenwood. Ms. Veer is also serving as the chair of the Board of Directors for Lakelands Rural Health Network (LRHN), a six-county partnership of key players and safety net providers in the Lakelands area, which is dedicated to strengthening the health care delivery system and improving the health status of Lakeland's residents. Ms. Veer participates in various statewide initiatives and is the interim chair for the South Carolina Health Information Exchange (SCHIEx) Governance Council. Ms. Veer is also an active member of the National Association for Community Health Centers, serving on their Legislative and Rural Health Policy Committees.
Ms. Veer has one son, two daughters, five granddaughters, and one grandson. In addition to enjoying her family, Ms. Veer's personal interests include travel, golf, sailing, horseback riding, reading, and, in recent years, she has become an avid swimmer. For more "sedate" enjoyment, Ms. Veer loves reading and writing - she has published articles in a variety of publications and hopes to complete a novel that has been years in the making.
