30 Years Celebrated by Eau Claire Cooperative Health Centers
- Eau Claire Cooperative Health Centers will celebrate 30 years of providing health care service in the Midlands at a gala on October 28th at 6:30 p.m. at 701 Whaley Street. For ticket information contact Liz Hundley, 803-733-5969, ext. 4160), or ehundley@ecchc.org .
- The gala features entertainment, cuisine by Dupre Catering, and a silent auction to benefit The Plan, a sliding scale fee program available at the centers.
- The Cooperative started as a small medical practice in 1981 and grew to 14 locations that serve more than 40,000 low and moderate income patients a year. The Cooperative is one of the largest community health centers in the southeast with offices in Columbia, Cayce, Ridgeway, Newberry, and Batesburg Leesville.
- In October The Cooperative opened a new center in Pelion which is expected to serve 2,500 families each year. The Pelion Center is the result of a unique collaboration between The Cooperative and Lexington County officials to fill a gap in medical services.
- Board Chair, Martine Naar said, "These practices assist families with limited incomes, and people who would otherwise have no access to medical care. We are very proud of the vital role The Cooperative has played and we look forward to serving the needs of the Midlands for years to come."
